Let Us Take Care of Your Fall Armyworm Problem in Miami

Native Pest Management, a family-owned company founded by third-generation Florida natives, offers complete residential and commercial fall armyworm control services to homes and businesses throughout Miami.

During our initial visit, we will identify the severity of the fall armyworm infestation and note any other present pests. We can then determine what cultural management practices (i.e. over-irrigation, mowing too short, or under-fertilization) may be contributing to the host plant material being more susceptible to pest infestations and will recommend corrections to those practices where possible.

How do fall armyworms damage plants?

Fall armyworm larvae damage plants by consuming them. They make holes in their host plants and eat them from the edges of the leaves. They also can burrow into the root of the plants, destroying their growth potential.

What time of year are fall armyworms most common in Miami?

You can find fall armyworms in your yard from March to December, but they tend to do the most damage in late summer and early fall. These pests are very susceptible to the cold and will die in under 50?, so they spend winters in the southernmost parts of Florida and Texas.

How do I get rid of fall armyworms?

Animals like red-winged blackbirds, lizards, snakes, and turtles will feed on fall armyworms. Other microorganisms like nematodes, Steinernema carpocapsae, and Bacillus thuringiensis can control fall armyworms.

You can also plant marigolds, garlic or chrysanthemums around your lawn to repel them.

If you find any caterpillars on your lawn and suspect that they’re fall armyworms, you can handpick them; however, this is more effective early in an infestation.

Do I need to prepare my yard for ornamental pest control services?

No, we do not require any sort of preparation for ornamental pest control services.

What do fall armyworms eat?

In Florida, fall armyworms like to consume St. Augustinegrass and Bermudagrass, and can also affect many other plants and shrubs.

How often should I get lawn and ornamental services?

We recommend that all clients get monthly lawn and ornamental service. For clients who don’t have a lawn or do not need the lawn care aspect, an ornamental service can be done independently.
