How can I prevent cockroaches?
Seal all entry points around your home. Roaches can fit through tiny cracks in your foundation or walls, as well as spaces around doors and windows. Use weather stripping and caulk, and repair any damaged screens.
Inspect items before bringing them inside. German roaches often make their way into homes hidden on deliveries or other items. Take a close look at packages, boxes, furniture, etc. before bringing them into your home.
Address any water problems. Roaches may enter your building in search of water, and American roaches are known to enter homes through plumbing. Handle any water issues around your home, like issues with faucets, pipes, downspouts, etc.
Clean your home regularly. Keep your home tidy and clutter-free to eliminate hiding spots and help keep these pests out. Take out the trash regularly and sweep up any messes as soon as possible.
What time of year are cockroaches most common in Aventura?
Cockroach season peaks in Aventura between June and September. But due to the area's warm and humid climate, you can find roaches in your home throughout the year.
What types of cockroaches are in Aventura?
The most common species of cockroaches in the Aventura and South Florida areas include palmetto bugs, German cockroaches, Australian cockroaches, Florida woods cockroaches, brown-banded cockroaches, smokey brown cockroaches, Asian cockroaches, and Oriental cockroaches.
American Cockroaches: American cockroaches are one of the largest types of roaches that infest homes, ranging from 1 ¼ to 2 ? inches long. They have oval reddish-brown bodies, long antennae, spiny legs, and a yellowish figure 8 pattern on the back of their heads.
German cockroaches: German cockroaches are about ½ an inch to ? an inch long. They’re light brownish or tannish in color and have 2 stripes on their backs.
Australian cockroaches: Australian cockroaches are dark brown in color, growing to between 9/10 to 1 ¼ inches in length. The Australian cockroach is also distinguishable by a yellow band around the edge of the top of their head.
Florida woods cockroaches: Florida woods cockroaches are reddish-brown to black and are typically between 1-1 ½ inches long. These roaches are generally more round than other species.
Brown-banded cockroaches: Brown-banded cockroaches are small, brown cockroaches that are often confused with German cockroaches because of their small size and light-brown color. At around ½ an inch in length, brown-banded cockroaches are most distinguishable by the light brown circle that can be found on the top of their heads.
Smokey brown cockroaches: Smokey brown cockroaches are reddish-brown to black and are typically between 1 ¼ -1 ½ inches long.
Asian cockroaches: Asian cockroaches are tan, narrow roaches that are a little over ½ an inch long. They have two dark bands on the head shield.
Oriental cockroaches: Oriental cockroaches are between dark brown and black and measure around 1 inch long.

No, we do not require any sort of preparation for roach control services.
Are cockroaches dangerous?
Roaches are filthy creatures that have a habit of consuming rotting bacteria-ridden organic matter. These nasty pests spread disease-causing organisms around homes and businesses over countertops, kitchen tables, and on left out and stored foods.
Here are just a few diseases you might contract from these dangerous pests.
If you have asthma or any respiratory problem, cockroaches might make you sick in a different way. Indirectly, through their shed skins and dirt-like fecal matter, roaches release particulates into the air that often trigger breathing problems. This problem compounds itself and becomes worse the larger an infestation becomes.
How do I get rid of cockroaches in my home?
If you know you’re dealing with American cockroaches, make sure all toilets and pipes are sealed. Look for exterior holes, cracks, and crevices to seal as well.
The next step is to use granular cockroach bait both inside and outside of your home, in the places roaches like to hide. Our experts at Native Pest Management recommend Maxforce Complete Granular Insect Bait.
If you have German cockroaches, deep clean your home, specifically addressing grease, food, and water. Try to vacuum up as many roaches as you come across along the way.
This species does not respond to granular bait, so we recommend gel bait, especially Vendetta Plus. Apply pea-sized droplets in the cracks that these roaches hide and breed in. Using an Insect Growth Regulator is also extremely helpful, as it can help to break their life cycle and cut down their reproduction.
Since different species respond to certain treatments better than others, it is important to call a professional to identify the type of roach before spending your money on a solution that may or may not work.
